• Coopers Piliguard Pinkeye-1 Trivalent Vaccine has
been available internationally for over 15 years
(first registered in the USA in 1990, New Zealand and South
Africa in
2000) and the safety and
efficacy of the vaccine is accepted worldwide. Over 25
million doses have been sold in the USA alone in the last 8 years
• Being an oil adjuvanted vaccine, a transient local reaction can
sometimes
occur at the injection site – this reaction should subside over a period of
2-6 weeks
• The efficacy of Piliguard has been proven internationally by controlled challenge
studies, field trials and serology testing of vaccinated calves:
- In 1990 a challenge study was performed to
determine the efficacy of a single dose 3 strain Moraxella bovis vaccine3.
- 94 calves were used in the study – 45 vaccinated and 49 unvaccinated
controls. Calves were separated into groups and then exposed to one of the three strains of M. bovis
- Across these groups only 5 out of 45 of the vaccinated calves
developed clinical signs of pinkeye, whereas in the unvaccinated
calves 30 out of 49 calves developed clinical signs
- The study concluded that a single dose 3 strain Moraxella bovis vaccine
provided significant protection against M. bovis

• Coopers Piliguard Trivalent-1 Pinkeye Vaccine has been shown to
be relevant to the local Australian strains of M. bovis by in vitro immunogenic
correlation
• Disease challenge studies have not been performed
on any live animals in Australia, due to ethical reasons and
the strong supporting international data
• After extensive international use for almost two decades, there
is no information available to indicate that the administration
of Coopers
Piliguard vaccine has any potential to adversely affect reproductive
performance
